Research and data collection on our local economy has identified certain industries as part of our focused economic development effort. The targeted business opportunities listed below were selected based on a comparison of our asset's and a review of our current business environment against the needs of these potential industries. 

Customer service centers & Remote Workforce
-  Clarksville possesses state of the art Network infrastructure to support call centers, IT, Remote workforce, Data centers, and other related businesses.

-  A newly installed fiber network feeds government facilities, businesses, and residential areas with a dedicated 17+ mile 288 fiber network ring throughout the City of Clarksville. This state-of-the-art municipally owned network is capable of deploying Gigabit speeds.

-  Approximately 33% of residents in the Johnson County area possess an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree or have attended some college classes. The University of Ozarks and Arkansas Tech University offer degrees relevant to the industry. 

-  The City of Clarksville is always prepared to negotiate a competitive incentives package for new business opportunities. The State of Arkansas also offers a competitive array of incentives that include income tax credits, sales and use tax credits and refunds,  payroll rebates, and cash grants for new and expanding companies. 
Distribution & Logistics
-  Clarksville is located on Interstate 40, close to the center-point of Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Dallas.

-  The Union Pacific Railroad, which runs through Johnson County, provides mainline rail service to ports and markets throughout the United States.

-  The Arkansas River and the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System forms the southern boundary of Johnson County providing water-borne transportation access via terminal facilities in Dardanelle, which is 31 miles East of Clarksville. 

-  Since 1992, Wal-Mart has operated a major distribution center in Clarksville, employing over 900 employees at their approximately 900,000 SqFt facility.

-  The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, 58 miles West of Clarksville, offers courses in distribution and logistics. 


-  The City of Clarksville is prepared to negotiate a competitive incentives package for new business opportunities. The State of Arkansas also offers a competitive array of incentives that include income tax credits, sales and use tax credits and refunds,  payroll rebates, and cash grants for new and expanding companies. 
Agriculture & Food processing
-  The River Valley has a major agricultural component to its economy, which produces significant raw materials for the food processing industry. Poultry, cattle, corn, and soybeans are all grown in the Johnson County area.  

-  The Cole Westbrook Fruit Research Station in Johnson County is part of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. The station provides a site for research on a number of fruit crops due to its location within a unique microclimate. Research covers peaches, apples, nectarines, grapes, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and pecans. 

-  The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, 90 miles from Clarksville, is the home of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural Food & Life Science. Arkansas Tech University in Russellville is located 27 miles from Clarksville and offers a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business.

RETAIL & Services
-  As Clarksville continues to grow and surpass the population density of 10,000, Retail & Service industries are becoming an increasingly lucrative opportunity.

-  Sitting squarely between Fort Smith and Russellville, Clarksville presents a retail void that is ripe for new companies looking to expand their market. 

-  The closest big box home improvement, office supplies, or mall  is more than 20 minutes away. Competition is limited for key retailers interested in Clarksville.

Manufacturing
-  Clarksville has multiple prime locations suitable for manufacturing operations. Specifically, our 120 acre Industrial Park is prepared for development with close access to Interstate 40. This is the largest municipally-owned property along I-40 in a 1 hour drive in either direction.

-  Our existing
 168,000 SqFt. former ABB/Baldor facility is ideal for a site-user looking for crane enabled manufacturing capability, office space, and storage on one expansive property. Covering 37 acres, the two fully air conditioned single story buildings are in excellent condition and rich with amenities and features including two cafeterias, plenty of office space and parking for more than 250 cars.

-  The Union-Pacific Railroad, which runs through Johnson County, provides main line rail service to ports and markets throughout the United States. The Arkansas River is another major transportation route within Johnson County.

-  Our city-owned and city-wide fiber network provides the fastest connection speeds in the River Valley to meet the data needs for massive manufactures or small business owners alike.

Jessica is the beating heart of Business Relations and Tourism in Johnson County. As the Director of the Chamber, she works with local businesses and employers to provide education, training, and helps facilitate economic development efforts in Johnson County.

  She is a Veteran of the Army National Guard and has equally served Johnson County with distinction.
